Recently some parts are not printing well. This one is now getting a layer shift on all sides like the dimension changed, got larger, some sides are worse than others. The changes in the outer faces/sides do coincide with internal changes to the item such as cutouts starting or stopping. I am able to reproduce this but it only seems to happen when there is an internal change in the part but the overall dimensions are the same.

This is printed with white ABS - bed at 110 - extruder at 240. Machine is a QIDI - replicator clone

The first pic is the issue and the second is the inner area to show where the changes are and how they coincide with the outer surfaces. The last one is an end showing corner lifting and how the whole item is bending/leaning to the right

I am at a loss on this. This part printed fine last week then started to fail.

I’m sorry, I am a little unclear on what is happening here.

Are you saying that when the printer gets to the part of the print that is different, it INCREASES the size of the printed part. So it is bigger on x and y?

Or is it just shifting the layer in one direction, x or y?

Yes, basically it is increasing the dimension on the X-Y but not proportionally. It does not really seem to be a layer shift per se.

What slicer are you using? If there’s a preview in the slicer, do you see anything strange in it?

Can you share some of your settings for the print (extrusion multiplier, extrusion width, cooling settings, travel speeds, infill, etc)?

Also, have your tried a test print of it in a different material, like PLA?

Some possibilities may include the print bed is loose and moving, drive belts are loose, or drive pulley is loose. If the belts are too loose they may skip a tooth check tension reset and rehome. If the pulley is loose tighten the set screw in the pulley and rehome (there is a flat spot on encoder motor shaft where set screw run against).

I am using Simplify3D. The preview doesn’t show anything odd. Have not tried a different material yet. I can share settings when I get home later but they should be mostly defaults for ABS and the machine.
