What material would be my best option to 3D print an item (a post finial) that can be painted and is also weather resistant? (scorching full-sun to freezing weather)

Take a look at this TPE filament, seems to be what you might want. But I don’t know if many people will print in it.

ABS is very long-living and weather resistant, it cab easily be painted, but is difficult to print for large models (10cm should be the absolute maximum of height, otherwise the printer needs a heated build chamber). Otherwise I would highly recommend XT by Colorfabb. It can easily be sanded and has similar properties to ABS, but it doesn’t shrink and is therefore very good for large models and prints, that have to be spot on and have tight tolerances. I offer both XT and ABS, also I could give you some guidance (tips and tricks) on how to work with these materials. Thanks, but I need my item to be rigid, not visco-elastic like this material.
