Hello, If you look at this photo…

Can anyone tell me why the layers seem to go inwards further and further until suddenly correcting and then proceeding perfectly for the rest of print?

Anet A8 printer, PLA @ 190C, .3mm Layer height, .4mm nozzle

Thanks for your time!

Here is a picture of the full model

It could be a model or slicer issue, does it do it on every different print you do and is it at the same height? or is it just this model.

Run the model through a fixer such as makeprintable.com. Also look at the model preview and see if there is anything odd.

Try something else and see if it does it at the same location.

Try rotating the model around the Z axis by 45 degrees and see what happens. Turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise on the bed.

Oddly I made a completely new model using inventor and it has the exact same problem… I have also rotated it around. Maybe it is slic3r’'s fault, but the model looks perfectly fine in preview mode. Will try using cura when I get home.

If you want to share the model I can try it also.

I really appreciate that!

Its a waste of filament if you don’t have a 3/4" shelf, so I’d suggest you scale it down :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the help Everyone!

I figured out the problem was Slic3r…

Using nearly exact same settings and Cura I was able to remove that weird layer problem.

Odd. Slic3r has worked perfectly up untill now for me.

I’ll give it a try with Slic3r and see how it goes.

The file looks ok.

I printed it with Slic3r and I do get an artifact at the height of where the opening starts but this is not unusual. I think Slic3r just had an issue at that point. Maybe a different infill would change it.

I messed around with the infill overlap settings, as well as infill % but I maintained the problem :0. Cura prints it perfectly. I really appreciate the time you have put into helping me though!

No problem. I was wondering if the actual infill type would change things but good it is working.
