Hey @tobywright and @Simone_Syrton_C, welcome to 3D Hubs  If you browse through the How to Hub section of Talk you’ll find various opinions on how to get about receiving more orders as Hub. But to answer your question: basically the activity of Hub depends on various factors - the number of Hubs in your area (supply and demand), the type of services they’re offering (versus yours) or how popular 3D printing is in your city.

There are a few things though that you can do to influence the number of orders you receive:

  • For example, promoting your Hub both online and offline, to family, friends and their circles, but also to extended circles through events, meetups and conferences, will help for sure. Social media plays an important role in this, so don’t shy away from it  Make sure to tag @3DHubs, we’re always happy to re-share.
  • Whenever Hubs share cool prints/ projects here on Talk, we always share them on our social channels, giving credit of course. I can see you both have awesome prints featured on your page, share them around!
  • Pimp up your Hub page with nice photos of cool prints, basically build up a portfolio that emphasizes the type of filaments and services your Hub offers. Your Hub page is ‘your shop window’ and whenever customers browse through the images displayed play a very important role.

Well, just to name a few. Let me know if these help and I hope to see more of you around here

Cheers!

Thanks Gabriela that helps me so much, I will do all of that things to get jib traffic on my hub. Cheers!

I would often plan a day going to several businesses on main streets of my local towns. I would do a little research and come in with 3 items:

  • Something Functional, like a tool or toy that displayed the strength that can be achieved.
  • Something Beautiful, can be anything aesthetically pleasing but intricate sells the idea.
  • Something Custom to THEM, it’s not hard use Sketchup or some other free program to put the name of a business on an object whether you found the file or designed it yourself. Custom is King.

Educating those around you about what you do is important because you can’t service the market until you create it.
