Hey guys, though I was going crazy, but want to see if this has happened to anyone else in the last few days. Myself and a mate are having the same issue with completely different printers, and software, and think that the printing companies are conspiring against us.
The issue is that the first layer of filament is trying to be applied about 5mm off the bed. When the object is imported, everything is level and set on the bed. But as soon as it’s sliced, it is raised. So then when you go and print everything goes bad.
Our theory is that the filament companies are against us so that we waste filament and buy more.
I’m using XYZware with a DaVinci Duo 2.0 and he is using a Cacoon Create from Aldi with Slicer.
This could be way out there, but wanted to mention it.
I had the same issue with my Davinci 1.0a, ended up fixing it by adjusting the Z-axis by 5mm, add 5mm to the offset and everything works perfectly fine, not really sure why.
Though, to be able to do that you need to flash to Repetier
Check you z gap calibration. Also if your STL might have be messed up. Try looking at the first few layers of gcode to make sure everything looks right. It’s possible you have an artifact hanging off the bottom of your object.
With the Da Vinci check that the bed is calibrated right, they get way out of wack when you pry off prints.
You can also get the gcode to make sure that the code isn’t corrupted and starts on the bed and not above.
I would highly recommend you use Simplify3D if possible, or Cura for the Cacoon. I’ve used XYZware and it pretty much sucks…
