I have had my printer for a month, and have printed numerous things, all in PLA. I have some ABS I’m trying to use, and I have no issue with getting it to stick to the bed, but it refuses to stick to itself. All my parts come out like a wad of dental floss. I’ve tried bed Temps from 110C to 130C, altho something tells me the bed isn’t the issue. Hotend temps have ranged from 220-250C in 5 degree increments, and I’ve partially enclosed the printer to block any drafts. Anyone have any suggestions? I have also tried a few different spools in case I got a bad one, still no joy

Does it have trouble on the second layer or later on?

I’m thinking it could be that you are just slightly too far from the bed so it’s not contacting the previous layer hard enough.

What I tend to do is put the nozzle lower than I would think I should and then use the ‘Z offset’ in Slic3r (anywhere from .01 to .1) to hone in on the best distance.

The other problem could be if the nozzle is a little clogged, your filament won’t extruder straight out, so each layer will not really print on the previous one. Try doing a ‘cold pull’ a few times with the ABS you have in there and then again with PLA to make sure that’s not trapped in there.

FYI, I print ABS at 245C with 110C bed.
