Hey ladies and gents,
My name is Morgan, current M1 Armor Crewman as well as a student at Point Park University. I am an avid hobby modelist of 1:00 scale WWII models and am looking into getting a 3D Printer to print my own vehicles, tanks, etc. Any advice or help regarding what kind of printer to get would be so appreciated.
Thank you!

What is your budget?
Are you interested in dual extruders (possibility of printing dual color, but adds complexity)?
What kind of build volume do you need?
I own a Robo3d R1 and a replicator clone, the first one offers great build volume and versatility and i use the second one for dual extrusion prints.
No matter which printer you end up getting consider that there is going to be a learning curve, before to get truly reliable and accurate performances from your machine you’ll likely have to tinker with it quite a bit.
Feel free to email me if you need more in depth help (anklagonaow@gmail.com)
Hey Morgan,
I agree, setting a budget before embarking onto the journey that is 3D printing helps a lot. Since printing scale models on a traditional FDM printer can be notoriously tricky or even straight up impossible, I would advise you to look into SLA printing. Unfortunately those machines tend to be pricier than their plastic-squirting counterparts. For a first overview I would like to refer you to the 2016 buyers guide, which you can find in the “Learn” tab above. The few SLA printers that were reviewed are listed as resin printers.
Sincerely,
Jonas
