Hello all,

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I was recently given a CTC Dual Extruder model purchased eight months ago by my father who is now going to upgrade to a Prusa I3 soon. This is my first foray into 3d printing and I’ve already printed out some things successfully but I seem to run into problems when printing larger items or even smaller items that have huge gaps in them. My father told me to adjust the Travel, Extruder and Retraction speeds I currently use the makerbot software and may purchase simplify 3d later on but I like Makerbot right now. My question is what are ideal speeds for general printing. I mainly use PLA I have not tried ABS but I do have a role of PETG I’ve experimented with.

Post photos of the problems you’re having and we can advise. You’re speculating that the problems you are having are due to speed!! They might well be something else.
