So I have a solidoodle 3rd gen printer, and the print head is getting well old and some of the structure has cracks from the times I have taken it apart is there a way to buy a new head from another company like makerbot or something, or will I have to just rebuild the one I have? Any thoughts are appreciated.

If you can still print it with it you can make a replacement like the one posted below or Solidoodle Jigsaw Replacement Extruder mk5 by lawsy - Thingiverse or buy one Loading...

If you can still print with it, and you are interested in expanding the capabilities of your printer, I would recommend going with an e3d hot end and replacing the extruder assembly with a printed one. Something like this: E3D V6 Solidoodle 3 adapter by NZJonny5 - Thingiverse I recommend getting some extra nozzles when you order, especially the hardened steel ones, as then you can print carbon fiber composites. As a bonus, the hardened steel nozzles also seem to have lower back pressure, allowing you to extrude faster. K

I can’t say anything about the nozzle since i don’t have them but the hot end is great.
