Hi,

I’ve just swapped out the extruder on my CTC for a Titan Aero. I’ve got it printing, but I have problem with the actual print. The base layer prints OK, but then the print head speeds up, and I just get small strings and blobs deposited. Very quickly the whole print detaches. I’ve tried changing the extrusion speed settings in Makerbot, but that seems to make no difference at all. I was wondering if it’s because the Titan has a 3 to 1 step down gearing? Anyhow, I’m not making any headway on this, and any thoughts would be very gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

I would slow down the overall printing speed a bunch and see how it goes.

What slicer, speeds, temps and material?

Ahh, now you are revealing my ignorance. I can’t find anywhere to do that in the CTC machine settings. I’m using makerbot desktop to control my printing from my PC and, although it’s got a section that is headed extrusion speeds, when I change the numbers in there, (sometimes quite drastically) I’m seeing no difference in the behaviour of the printer. Is there some better desktop software I should be using? The material is ABS and I’m using 230, which has worked absolutely fine in the past.

Thanks,
Nick
