Hi guys, I have received a new FF Creator pro…when i have to load the filament, i can load ok on the right extruder and prints absolutely great

However when I wanted to load the left, I got the following message “Tool 1 Failre! Temperature reads are failing. Check wiring.”

Is this referring to the thermocouple at the underside? one of the wires was loose, so i put it back again but the error still persists.

i have not plugged the creator pro to my computer as i use my SD card and have not had a chance to check the firmware version. would this have any effect?

See the attachment below.

Any help appreciated in advance.

Cheers

Your temp sensor wiring has an issue or your temp sensor is faulty. This has happened to me in the past, I would contact Flashforge they will walk you through the procedure for testing it.

The message means the temperature reads aren’t working the way the bot expects when it applies heat. This can be because the thermocouple isn’t connected correctly, is shorted or broken. It can also be the heater isn’t working or there’s a problem with a component on the motherboard. If it happens immediately I’d suspect the thermocouple.

you can go to monitor mode in the settings menu on the LCD and if the temp is wrong there it isn’t the heater. After that you can try the preheat and watch how the readings react. I _think_ you can see the reverse polarity there if the temp goes the wrong way.

Any case, you can check the connection at the motherboard and hotend. If you have a multimeter you can check the resistance of the thermocouple (unplug it from the motherboard first) as well as make sure there is no short to the heater block (infinite resistance).

I don’t have the expected thermocouple resistance handy but I think a bit of google forum searching will turn it up.

Dear Mark,

Thanks for the message. I found a loose wire in the thermocouple at the underside of the creator pro. I undid the screw and put it back. However the tool 1 error still shows up within 10 - 15 seconds each time I start the printer.

I have attached a picture of the bottom side of the creator pro. Does everything seem OK?

Sure I shall send a picture to Flashforge and wait to hear back from them.

Thanks!

I have a “Heating Failure #1” error, on my CT’c replicator dual clone, the 5v, 24v and 3.3v led’s on the main board are red, the left temp is showing 695 deg, (tripping the error), before preheating, I have tried setting up the printer as one extruder, but the error happens either way I swap them, telling the printer it only has one extruder, the left or right fan is on all the time, I changed the 24v 40w heater cartridges, and screwed inside the blocks, some 3mm k-type thermocouples, (the original ones were the ring type), but error is still there, the thermocouples are wired up the same as the original ones, I know that some led’s show red, as they are from a not used part, I have some more original ring k-type thermocouples on their way from china, and also a few MAX6675 chips, just in case, I will put the original thermocouples in when they arrive, and get back to all on that. Is it normal for the led’s on the 5, 24 and 3.3v led’s to show red, or do they normally show green? I have not seen a CT’c (blue), clone mighty board the same as mine up and working, so I am not sure. Steve

Update: The manufacturer sent me 2 k-type thermocouples, they had plugs already connected, so I plugged them in, and the heater failure #1 still shows, I changed both my heater cartridges (24v 40w), but still I have the error, I contacted the manufacturer, and they said “would you like us to send thermocouples?” I replied that they did, and I tried them, it did not fix the problem, I explained that I had also swapped thermocouples and heaters from an exact Identical machine, so the problem can only be on the main board, (perhaps the MAX6675 chips), but I have had no reply, when I do get a reply, they seem to think it is a problem with my thermocouples, I have had about 36 hours of lovely printing in the 3 months I got the machine, I am beginning to wonder if I will end up with a huge paper weight.

Another update: The “Heating failure #1” error is still there, even after I changed the thermocouples and heater cartridges, (everything connected corectly, and exact components), I wrote back to the supplier, and the email response was for me to send them a photo of the error, so they can get their engineer to find a solution, (I have already done this 3 times), I explained that the old thermocouples had probably damaged the main board, but I still await for their reply, it has been over a month and a half, and still I am without a working printer.

I have the same problem, the support of our printer sucks, they never solve the problem!

Did you ever solve this problem? I have been dealing with this for months now and have done everything you have done. Just received a new motherboard and installed it. Went to turn on printer and nothing. I assume I do not have something important connected. Going to work on it more tomorrow. Just wondered if you ever resolved your issue.
