I am new to the 3D printing. The only file that it will recognize for a print is the cat.gcode that came with it. I have tried the usb hookup and my mac and pc wont recognize that it. I have also hooked it up to wifi and downloaded a gcode file successfully and it still doesn’t show up when you check the mini to print. I don’t know if it is something that I am doing wrong. If any one has any in site would greatly appreciated.

What slicing program are you using?

Also, have you checked out the Facebook group: MP Select Mini Owners | Facebook

There is also a wiki site for the MPSM: http://mpselectmini.com/

Hope these will help, you might want to see what version your firmware is on, as there are usually new ones released on Monoprice’s site.

Thank you for your response. Cura. And I save it as a gcode and have also tried the stl files.

Are you using the same SD card that came with the printer? The printer can only handle the simpler FAT

format, not the newer version that is the default on most PCs. If this is the problem, then try using

very short file names, no more than eight characters.

I tried that one and two others and would t work. So yesterday I went in and made sure all my settings on cuts match what shows in manual and couple ones were different but I tried what you said and with the ad card that came with it worked. I shortened the name and it came up. But I still can’t get the ad cards I bout to work. Do I need a special sd card? I now I have it set up to print in the middle of the build plate and it want to go to the front right or left. It would try to print off the build plate for 2 or 3 times then switch to trying to build off the build plate for 2 or 3 times. I finally got it to start a print on the edge of the build plate.

Thanks so much for your help.

I recently got one of the new mp mini v2s. It has been working fine so far, but today I recently downloaded a print to the SD card that cure says will take about 10 hours. It just stops moving at 2%. I tried pressing the pause button but the extruder eventually just goes back to where it stopped. Now I’m printing the default cat.gcode file and it’s working fine. Any ideas? Would it be the SD card?

Thank you, this was the solution for me. I had been printing all week without any real issues but occasionally my card wouldn’t read at all. Now that I see your solution this only happened if my card had just one file on it. I edited the filename which made it shorter and vola, it finally worked. I’m using Fat32.
