I recently constructed a 3d printer, but when I try to have it print or manually move the motors they don’t move. I have tried plugging/replugging the motors and flashing the firmware. Sometimes it jerks then stops which i think the video shows.

What drivers do you use for the motors? Can you rotate the shaft by hand?

If the motors cannot be moved then you probably have a wiring issue(broken, short, wrong order).

I have triple checked order and none of the wires are crimped

I’m not sure about driver how do I check? I can rotate it by hand.

“I can rotate it by hand.”
Sorry I misunderstood when you said “manually”. I thought you meant “by hand”. None of the motors move? Also, see if you can move the motors by hand after sending a movement command, do they lock up? Also, check if the motors are getting hot. If no to the last two questions then the board is most likely the problem. If it’s all the motors then the whole board may have a problem, not just drivers. Could also be firmware, such as wrong pin assignments.

How would I install drivers? How could I work with pin assignments? The move commands do nothing for locking up the motors.

The drivers for the motors are electrical components. What control board do you use? If you can move the motors by hand it might be because the drivers do not provide enough current to the motors and they do not have the torq needed to turn the motors. Some control boards like RAMPS or RAMBo mini have a potentiometer that regulates this current. First try to see if this is the problem. If this is not the issue than it can be many things like firmware, pin assigment, defective motors, etc

From what i saw in the picture the potentiometers are next to the row of components. I circled them with blue in this picture. Try to twist them all the way.

I’m assuming to the right? I turned them a lot and all it did was give it more resistance to pushing it. Should I keep turning?
