Hi first of all I love these machines , absolutely brilliant , my problem is juddering of the motor on my y axis I thought the cable was dodgy , so I had idea to use the cable on my left extruder , this cable doesn’t work either , I checked the motors on other parts of the machine and the cable and everything works until I plug it into that connection on the board , I’m pretty sure it’s the connector on board ( I’ve enclosed a photo ) , do I need to change the whole board or can I replace that socket , any help would be appreciated , everytime I’ve asked on here someone smarter than me has the answer lol , please help Thankyou

Sorry here is the image , where the connector is disconnected
I don’t see anything obviously wrong with the connector. I would suspect the cable or stepper driver first. A connector is really an all or nothing deal.

Have you tryed a new motor driver. You could try swopping the left with the right driver and see if that corrects the problem

Hi that sounds better than changing the board lol , I don’t really know how I go about changing a driver ,honestly this is first I’ve heard of it , is it easy enough , could you instruct me please , Thankyou

Don’t know if this help but I do have a new motor , that doesn’t work either
The driver is the little part right in front of where the cable plugs into the board - see your cable pic for reference.

Hi thanks for your help , today a new motor cable arrived , I changed the driver with the driver from the left extruder motor , don’t know if that was correct , then changed limit switch on X axis and motor cable that drives the X axis , started it up and it was beautiful lol , sounds like brand new , smooth , then it approached the front left corner of the axis and juddered again for few seconds , this is back to how it was when I first noticed the problem , I think I installed wrong update , my prints were printing wrong shapes , I have now successfully installed sailfish , what else , I changed the pulley on the X axis , replaced with a 20 teeth gt2

Thankyou for your help , was appreciated , I changed few things , including driver , printer is very smooth now but still trying to move when it hits the end of axis , it almost looks like the printer thinks it’s bigger than it is , it moves smooth right till end then judders , only for a second , could this be the pulley I changed , coz I’m at a loss , at first I had a 16 teeth one on to replace the original , then a guy said they are 20 teeth ones I need , I’m questioning everything lol , it is 90% better just need this judder to stop , lcd reads sailfish now and the tune has changed as well , I don’t think it’s software now , I’ve changed everything to do with the motor and limit switch , any ideas please

The pully you changed needs to match the one on the motor. If it as a 16 the pully needs to be 16. If itsas a 20 the pully needs to be 20. Count the teeth on the motor and make sure the pully matches

Yeah I’m sure when I took it off it was 16 , but when asking around I was told that it should be a 20 gt2 , my problem is that about four things went wrong at same time , I installed wrong firmware , so installed sailfish to fix that issue , the juddering I fixed by advice on here to change driver and relevant cables , so did that and also limit switch , I shall try putting a 16 on it and see , that is all it can be , this will be my best printer when I get it going lol , once again , Thankyou for all your help guys/girls it is most appreciated , this is a great site , very very helpful

Ok so I have now changed the pulley back to a 16 teeth and now my prints are better but still smaller , I have enclosed photos , I’m going to try putting the 20 teeth back on and see then , but now my head stops short on the front left side and if cancel , it goes back to limit position and stops short there as well , no more juddering with a 16 teeth pulley on , machine is smoother , I am at a total loss now ,move fixed everything that was faulty , everything is smooth and running fine , sailfish seems to be ok , I’ve tried two diff sizes of pulley one goes to far and other too short , and my prints are about 3-5 mm smaller than they should be
