Hi,

I am looking to get either of the obove machines. I know the Objet pretty well, and the main thing that bothers me is the surface finish where supports are, and the mismatch between areas with and witout supports. I know this is sorted in the MJP, but the MJP has inferior surface finish if compared to areas where no supports are present in the Objet. so putting this issue aside (assuming the surface finish is good enough in the MJP 2500), I heard the MJP 2500 had some issues with dimensional stability and warped parts out of the printer. Is this correct? and generally, how will you compare both printers?

Thanks.

Get a used 3500hd max. Visijet crystal is best resin

objet vs mjp

objet, flat parts, PITA post processing, no fine detail, accurate dimensions

MJP, slightly warped parts, best post processing of any 3d platform, sharp edges, accurate dimensions

I own an mjp2500 and have to say the end result is very, very good. The process of melting away support material makes sure the most fine details are preserved. Warping could occur in post process but only in very thin prints. Most of the time you can correct it while the material is still warm and bendable. Check out my hub for some pictures of very finely detailed prints with great accuracy.

How much does the MJP2500 cost?

Depending where you are on the globe… In Europe around €50000.

Thanks for the reply.

When you say thin prints, how thin are we talking about? Would you say that most “engineering” parts printed in the mjp 2500 will not warp?

If I understand correctly, the warping is due to the heat of the wax removal. If I want to prevent warping, is it possible to remove the supports with a water jet like the Objet systems do, and use high temp only for thicker parts?

Thanks.

On this image you can see that the detail is better on the mjp, but it looks like the surface finish is better on the objet, is that correct?

Hard to day when things get warped… It depends on thickness and surface area. I have printed square light caps of 22mm width with a thickness of 2mm and those came out very nicely. If you take them out of the Easy Rinse system make sure they’re flat when cooling down. Once that’s done, there’s no warping at all. I’ve printed a little x-wing star fighter with wings half a mm thick… Yes they did warp a bit… But then again… 0.5mm thickness… Incredible detail. You can’t use water jets to remove the support material. It’s too hard.

Don’t think this is a print of a 2500 anyway… The 2500 does not have that kind of material.

I like working with MJP surface better then Objet. The glossy surface is a pain to sand and still has layers. The consistent surface finish and ability to hold edge and fine detail on the MJP are unmatched.

I have had. SLA, Objet, MJP, and 3SP printers. MJP is my favorite.

Hi,

we have both objet and mjp.

Its from 3500HDmax. Same process…

What about reliability? how long do you have the machine? and did you have to service it alot?

Thanks.

We have it for a couple of months and so far no issues. The machine looks well built. In the time we own it there were a couple of firmware upgrades as well the 3dsprint software. Also recently 3dsystems upgraded their materials to higher spec.

Thanks all for the input it was very helpfull. If anyone have any more tips, and comparison between the two brands it will be much appreciated. Thanks, Assaf Weiss

Who has an MJP 2500 or 3500? We are looking at producing a product with one of these printers and would like to get some samples and cost break down. Would be more than happy to pay to have a few pieces printed.

Hi Gutti,

I am currently in the decision making process, choosing between a Projet MJP 2500 and an Objet 30 Prime. As you can expect i am in a bit of an Apple vs Android scenario.

I have been searching for an impartial party who has experience with both platforms and it would appear that you might be the right person.

If at all possible would you mind offering some advice/ shedding some light on your experience please?

Any info would be extremely helpful. My email contact is tom.sudlow@nerudia.com

thanks in advance
