To celebrate the launch of the 3D printer HUB at the university, Science LinX is organising a meetup for all those wanting to learn more about how this technology can be used in a research environment. The exhibit will also form part of the programme for the Night of Art and Science on June 6th.

You are cordially invited to attend this meetup on Thursday May 21st at 16:00 in the Bernoulliborg, in the lobby in front of room 151.

  • Learn how 3D printers are already being used by research groups at the university through a series of brief presentations.
  • Learn how 3D printers can be used for rapid prototyping.
  • Improve your workflow by printing holders, adapters and replacement parts for your lab.
  • Communicate your research more effectively with 3D prints of your data (eg. AFM) or print educational models for your classes.
  • Exchange 3D models with other researchers and share experiences with this still new technology.

To help us plan the catering, please let us know ahead of time if you plan to attend by sending an e-mail to Marieke Wiersema at: m.j.wiersema@rug.nl.

We hope to welcome you on May 21st.

Cool! Is the Hub also listed here? As in, can people use the / order at the printers directly from 3D Hubs?

Looks very nice! Congrats for organizing it! Can this event be open to all the makers in the area? If so, I’d be happy to publish the event on 3D Hubs

I’m pretty sure that our mayor @UrbanErosion finds it super interesting too

The HUB as it currently exists is a temporary one meant for internal use at the RUG. The Ultimaker 2 will then move to its permanent home at the fablab where it will form part of the 3D HUBS network. In fact, the fablab already has the Ultimaker 2 listed as part of its HUB and is ready for use!

Please b sure to let us know if you intend to come so we can plan the catering!

It is absolutely open to all makers in the area and it would be great to make it a 3D HUBS event. I am still a bit new to 3d HUBS, how do I make that happen?
