Hey all – new here and trying to print Marvin for the first time, without supports as per the PDF.

In every place that overhangs though I am getting a rough/melty texture that looks quite bad.

Any tips?

Printer is a Robo 3D R1plus, using PLA from Atomic. I tried at 210 and 200 on the extruder temp but the result was the same.

Hey Lowfuel,

It may be the temperature that is causing you the problem. PLA is usually heated between 180 to 220 degrees Celsius. With the current picture it looks as thought the temperature is too high causing extra filament to drip through the nozzle. You should check the filament or box to see if there are any heat settings required. If it is at the correct setting then the printer may not be allocating the correct heat. One way of getting the correct temperature would be changing the temperature by 5 degrees at a time until it starts working. If this does not resolve it then try speaking to the supplier of the filament for some ideas.

I hope this helps.

Its hard to tell exactly but it looks like possibly a couple of things

1.) I would adjust the temperature and see if that helps

2.) It looks like you might be getting popping from your material having moisture in it.

3.) check all belts and make sure everything is tight and nothing in slipping

4.) try a different material spool and see if that helps as well.
