Hi,
My Makerbot 2X has been working great for about 400 hours of printing time, then the stepper motors started jumping back and forth rapidly. I pulled the extruders apart just to make sure that there was no interference with a filament jam and there was not. So I assumed that the motors needed to be replaced so I purchased the upgraded MK8 extruders, after the install of these the stepper motors do not work at all. They jump a little and then stop moving all together, so I hooked up the old motors and the same jumping back and forth happened.
Does anyone have any idea what could be going wrong with the motors?

@jwwirtz you have quite some milage on your Makerbot. Have you ever encountered something similar?
maybe it’s a problem related to the connector or the wires, try to invert the connector with the other motor to check if it works . ( without filament)
I have tried both motors and no luck. I tried putting the new motors on the old wires and the new motors on the new wires also with no luck. I am thinking that because both motors are doing the same exact thing that it is not the motors or the wires but something in the control board, any ideas along that line of thinking?
No I have had very little problems with my Makerbot, the only thing I have had a problem with is when Makerbot did the last update on there slicing program and I updated my computer to windows 10 the printer would go through the motions but would not extrude. I fixed this by reseting the printer to factory and uninstalling the slicing program and then reinstalling it.
