Hello,

I have had my MS for less than a week. It was a refurb from MP. The printer was in unused condition (by looks) and came packed in the original box and all items accounted for (tools, card, etc).

After assembling and getting the bed and carriage leveled, I proceeded to do some test prints. I did several to get the feel for the bed level. It did have issues for the first few getting the first layer to stick. I finally took some acetone and wiped off the print bed (Build-Tak) and that helped a lot to get the stick going. There must have been some grime or coating on it.

It ran fine for a few days and I printed away happily, then the printer paid homage to the great god of magic purple smoke. This was the heated bed mosfet frying. I had already ordered an external mosfet board, but it had not arrived yet. The printer has still worked with the heated bed turned off in the gcode.

Today, the power switch on the printer stop working. At least it broke in the ON position, and I can still externally power it on and off.

What’s next to go?

I have placed a return to Monoprice the day the mosfet smoked, but no response as of yet.

Other than that, the printer has been a joy

I just had a similar issue. Running the printer, got some smoke and a weird burning smell. Ran all around my house to figure out what was burning! Had this printer for a year though
