Hi all,

Thought I would introduce myself, I’m Rob and looking to buy a 3D printer for work.

Print sizes won’t be much bigger than 6"x6"x6" and using either ABS or PLA.

Usual cliche of needs are reliability, speed and detail.

Cost is less of an issue but ideally the cheaper the better. Also would like to get one which I can send to print and require minimal attention once it has been sent.

Any recommendations? Have been looking at the Prusa Mk2 as a lower cost entry, also the Zortrax M200. The cost of the Zortrax is about the maximum I can spend.

Thanks in advance for advice and recommendations.

From my experience there’s no such thing as an FDM printer that doesn’t require some attention after a print is sent to it. You can tune them pretty well but every now and then they act up. Especially the cheaper models.

While not cheap I’m a huge fan of SLA - currently using the Form2.

I’ve also used Monoprice 3D printers-- they’re cheap Makerbot Replicator clones but work very well and come with great support.

Hi Rob,

With great reliability, high prints quality and being really easy to use, M200 is simply a perfect printer

Consider the fact, that in the price you get the software as well, and our materials (Z-ABS) are adjusted to achieve the best results.

Hi Marta,

Thanks for the update, I will have a think over and get in touch. Obviously it’s a significant investment in terms of cost. It would be great to have a chat with someone about the printer though!

Mike, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I assumed that it would need attention, but what I meant from it, is I would be looking for one which requires less attention. Mainly so it wouldn’t take too much away from my work.

Thanks for the recommendations, I really wanted to look into SLA but the type of stuff that would be printed would vary in size so limitations there put a stop to that.

I will have a look into the Monoprice printer though, Thanks for the response!

Prusa vs Zortrax is a budget question. If you want something more open source with a larger community go with the prusa, if you want something that works most of the time with way less community support and have the budget go with the Zortrax.

Nothing against either brand they both have their pros/cons the primary motivator is generally initial and continued ownership cost.

Hi Rob,

you can check ET-K1 or ET-C1. even though it’s not famous as other brand, but its high precision and cheap price will convince you.

maybe it’s the best one for your budget.

Best regards

If you only need 6" cubed to get going then check out the QIDI X-one. Very solid printer and inexpensive. I use one for the smaller prints and it is a work horse. I do PLA and ABS on it.

QIDI customer support is excellent.

ET-C1 and ET-K1 are really good quality with low price, you could order it.

Hello Atton,

If you would like to get one require minimal attention, do not buy DIY KIT.

Because to get a great printed objects with those 3d printer diy kit, you should be proficient in assembling and calibration.

Besides, without arcrylic panel to insulate, print ABS would be difficult.

So buy a pre-assembled one is better.

This one is a great chioce. Yite ET-K1 build volume 8x8x8’’

I’m a 3d manufacturer, so if you gonna buy a 3d printer welcome to contact me.
