I gave away over 2000 reels of ABS to this community. I still have about 250 more reels, each in 10 pack, different colors and 3.0mm and 1.75. Would like to recoup a bit of the money I spent on this venture and am seeking offers. Also have some super great ABS that I am seeking to get cost for. Make an offer!
Susan,
I was one of the people involved in the ABS that you gave away. The brand is Jag Print, and it is so horribly out of spec that it’s practically worthless.
Both the 3.0mm and the 1.75mm are completely out of round, the filament is oval and the thickness is highly inconsistent across the rolls. The 1.75 is so bad that it is actually over 2mm in diameter for much of the roll, which causes it to completely jam a 1.75mm extruder. It is so out of spec that we couldn’t even get it to feed into any of our 3D printers.
If you look on Amazon at the reviews for Jag Print filament, there are numerous complaints about it. My friend Brad who took about 1000 reels still has all of it sitting in his garage because we were not able to use any of it. He can’t even sell it on eBay or Amazon because the reputation of this brand is so bad. The feeling we came away with is that we were basically used us as a free disposal service to haul away a defective product. It’s unfortunate and a huge disappointment, I’m afraid that it’s probably only good for recycling because it was so poorly manufactured.
I guess we can’t really complain because it was free after all, but in the end this filament ended up costing us a lot of time, gas, and aggravation trying to get it to work.
My understanding is that you lost your Amazon selling privileges selling this stuff due to all the complaints, and after that you dumped the remaining inventory off on the 3D Hubs community. But you really didn’t do us any favors by doing that without warning us how bad this filament really is.
Here are some of the reviews on Amazon that typify the complaints about Jag Print:

Hey there keyboard warrior,
While the diameter is imperfect, and I am completely aware of that, some people have had success using paint thinner as a desiccant. The plastic was not stored or wrapped properly, however thousands of spools were sold on Amazon, and many were repeat buyers, including some projects I worked on with GE . I would happily give everything to them, but they only use white. Careful about your accusations that we were kicked off Amazon: that is simply made up, and Amazon has many fees, and as a small business this is a difficult way to make profits. I removed my advertisement from Amazon. Hopefully you can find someone who has a machine that is able to use the ABS and not waste it. Next time, before writing things like this, try finding a positive way to more forward.
Susan
Sorry to sound ungrateful for the free filament, Susan, but sometimes free isn’t really free when it ends up costing.
Brad works for me and I agreed to drive my van out to the suburbs with him to pick up the filament. There was a lot of time, gas and labor involved in packing and unpacking 1000 kg into our vehicles, driving it back to the city, unloading it and storing it. Only to find out that it was completely unusable. If someone else had success with this filament, good for them, but we spent many hours trying to get it to work on 7 different 3D printers with zero success. In then end we felt like we had been duped into becoming a hauling and storage service for an unusable product. Had we known in advance what you already knew, that the diameter is imperfect, we would have had fair warning. I’m just expressing our disappointment to let others know what they are getting into.
If you voluntarily took down your ads on Amazon, that’s fair, however all the negative reviews tell a story of a lot of complaints and bad feedback.
Sorry this didn’t work out for either of us, and good luck disposing of what you have left.
