I am looking to 3d print a face, life size. Would it be better to split the face into 2-3 strips and print it? Anyone in Vancouver has a printer large enough for this task?

Hello Ben, There are a couple of factors to consider here. How complex will the facial features be? How big of a face are you thinking of? What will the end use of the face be? I would be interested in working on this project with you. I have a 12"x8"x10" printer build volume avaliable. Thanks, Victor

Hi Ben,

I have a printer with a build volume of 11"x11"x14" and have experience printing human faces. Feel free to contact me back should you want to start working on your project.

Regards,

Xavier

Hi Ben, I have a Objet30Pro Polyjet printer from Stratasys. The bed size is 11.81 x 7.87 x 5.9"… most favourite material is clear. Takes colour , i.e. stain, paint very good…detail is amazing. 28 micron for all materials except clear 16 microns. Accuracy is 0.1mm. see link for spec sheet. Timm

Take a look at this article about building a Halloween Mask. This similar to what you want to do?

Another option would be incorporating a design to split the face. For example: jigsaw shapes that piece together similar to a puzzle. The pieces may have tabs or some sort of clipping mechanism to hold together. This will increase design time and will all depend on the end use of the mask.
