I’m deciding on a 3D printer and I’ve narrowed it down to either the Kossel XL or Prusa Steel?
I was wondering if I could get some input on which printer is better and why?

If those are your two choices you have chosen the path of the RepRap. The Prusa is a bit easier to get going and learn and modify while the Kossel has more moving parts, will take a bit more of a learning curve in aligning and maintenance but will provide a very roomy print area. I suggest the Prusa to start and then build a Kossel once you have a good base of knowledge about all the parts and software. Just my opinion.

Prusa Steel, because easy and more modification parts.

I like AccretionPrint’s advice. I have a P3Steel, and love it. I’ve considered building a Delta, but haven’t committed because I know there are going to be all new and interesting problems to work though. (Plus Delta’s are witchcraft and don’t make any sense :P) PS, I’ve been changing some stuff around lately, and the “Rework” design has some cool parts, but I just ran across the “Toolson” design and he has some awesome insight and designs too!

I would avoid cartesian bots like the prusa’s, I have one so speaking from experience, Find a hbot or corexy if you want to avoid deltas. A moving build plate is a big issue once you get into the 3 day long prints, the vibrations kill everything. If you look around on aliexpress you can find some good kits, get a metal frame (not wood) if you expect to have a Heated build camber. If you do get a delta upgrade from a ramps board to something with more overhead like a smoothie or duet. Hope it helps. I would get the Kossel

Thanks for all the help guys. I’ve had experience with printers for just over two years (mainly Makerbot and I’ve had mixed feelings about Makerbot). I’m going to be doing fairly long prints with high detail and I’ve been leaning a bit more towards the Kossel XL.
