Hi,

I am interested in using 3D printing for making jewellery prototypes.

Questions:

a. What material should I be using for jewellery prototype?

b. where can I find a 3D artist to digitalise my designs?

Hi,

a. I ususally print them in wax, then cast them in brass or silver in order to make a master model. After that I made a rtv mold and duclicate the model thanks to lost wax technic.
b. I can digitalise it for drawing or picture, no problem.

Hi Nivedita,

It depends on what material you are thinking of making the final pieces in, and what finishes you are looking to achieve. Happy to make some suggestions if you have anything specific in mind.

We do 3d CAD work to turn your ideas into printable models. We’ve worked with jewellery designers before, including a collaboration with Sarah Angold where she presented 3d Printed Jewellery at Paris Fashion week ( 3D Printed Jewellery — Prod Designs ). Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Cheers,

Joe

Hi Nivedita - I am have a CAD service for Jewelers, doing exactly that: digitalise Jewelers designs. Have look at www.juliaware.com - and sent me a quick mail info@juliaware.com if you are interested or if you just have a question.

For the prototype I recommend using a resin-based print. The result is highly detailed and the model is strong and not really damageable, meaning you can try it on and handle it frequently. For the actual casting, wax is so far the best, most economical and accurate method.

So, sent me an email or call me if you’re interested in further information.

Julia (my hub here is unfortunately offline at the moment, as my printer is getting repaired.)

Hi Nivedita,

We can digitize or create CAD/CAM models for jewelry at reasonable rates. Please send us your paper designs and we can turn them into CAD/CAM models. You need to use castable resin based SLA machines for 3D printing jewelry. Once the resin models are ready they can be turned into gold/silver/metal jewelry. You can send me an email at: sb @ alfateksystems.com to get further details.

Nivedita, check out my site. This what i do. Regards, Mark Reyes G.G. Oliverodesigns.com

Hey NiveditaPandit,

For prototypes it doesn’t really matter to much which material you choose however I’d advise using something close to the properties of the jewellery. Try using SLA instead of FDM as it will produce a better finish without clear layers.

For modelling support click the 3D print icon and under the filters select modelling capability. Just send a quote explaining what you aims are and they should help you out. This way you can find local hubs meaning you can usually see them face to face making the whole process simpler and more efficient.

Hi Nivedita!

We can help you to develop jewellery prototyping by using photopolymer printing, which provides from 25 to 15 microns accuracy, or if you prefer we offer MLab metal printing considering gold, silver, stainless steel, chromium, and more; metal printer is commonly required to develop final product. We provide design services as well, either from scratch or making the transition from something you might have prepared in advance, please feel free to send me more details of your project and your contact information with your address to my email einar.vallejo77@gmail.com I look froward to hearing from you. Kind regards!

Hello,

You should be using the Form 1 or Form 2 if possible the better. This are really high resolution for the price compared to any other high end printer like the Stratsys. Materials: you can print with their Regular resin or Castable resin.

I can help you make any kind of 3d model, I have more than 15 years of experience, I do work for several jewelry designers. John Brevard, Dionea Oricini, Arme de la mour amnong others.

I can help you at all stages of the design process, ideation, 3d modeling, prototyping and production.

If you want to see some of my work, go to www.martinocreations.com

Have a good one!

Formlabs now has a new formulation regarding their Castable Resin. The new V2 SLA resin is perfect for printing high-quality parts that you can burn-out for casting. http://www.tavco.net/formlabs-sla-resins-3d-printing-materials

Hello,

My name is Sean and I work for Red Door Distributions and B9Creations. We use the B9Creator to produce our jewelry. Checkout our website at reddoordistributions.com or our other website cadkeeper.com for designers and free 3D CAD models that are available for download. There are a lot of options out there and we have articles comparing our B9Creator to other 3D printers. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your time.

Try Shapeways. There are many designers that can help you.
