On Sunday the Lansing community had it’s monthly meetup at a new exciting location, the Lansing Maker’s Network. LMN recently moved from the beautiful Old Town Temple into the Leaseway building. The new space is a great fit for LMN and it’s very active member-base. With eight 3D printers in the space many curious members stopped by.

Lansing is home to a wealth of different printers including this beautiful SeeMeCNC Orion. The models of the St. Louis Arch and the McDonnell Planetarium seen below were built on the Orion.

We were also fortunate to be joined by a new member of the 3D printing community. This was the first I’d gotten up close to the popular Micro3D, especially with so many sample parts.

With an Adapto Flex and a Mbot one of our stalwart members came prepared to lay down some serious prints. If you look close you’ll spy a very interesting piece on the Adapto Flex.

A couple members of our community are doing early testing on a new hotend that is unbelievably small. We were told to look for a Kickstarter soon from a tried and true company.

RepRaps were represented too. It’s been great to see this one getting dialed in and printing so well. This month it’s sported numerous upgrades including a custom built enclosure.

I brought in a recent addition to my stable, a RigidBot Big. It needs a little work but it’ll be humming along soon. It sports a monstrous 16x12x10 build volume. After a little clean up and oiling it was moving smoothly. Next up will be a hotend upgrade from friends at B3 Innovations.

We were also able to get a close look at LMN’s newest acquisition. A very generous member donated a massive 5 foot by 9 foot CNC router. It was a beautiful piece of machinery that will be up and running soon.

February is shaping up to be an exciting month for the Lansing community. Expect to hear more from our accelerator program, Lansing Proto and new events lined up for this spring!
