Hey guys,

So the new Trend report is out and we’re delighted to see the growth of CTC-3D printers on our platform.

Do you guys any have any predictions on why that is? Why do you think it’s a printer worth investing in? Would you call it a game-changer in any way?

Let me know!

I have both the CTC and the Flashforge. Between the 2, I find myself going to the CTC more for critical prints. It’s definitely a sleeper.

I’m using 4 Makerbot Rep2 and 2x machines for prototyping - along with 8 CTC/Flashforge machines for production.

I see the reason for CTC showing so high is:
The existing wide user base (based on open source Replicator1, Flashforge etc machines).
Wide supply of replacement parts and knowledge base based on the open source platform.
It’s rock bottom pricing helps move machines and push it up the ladder to the top spot.

CTC are not my best machines and are definitely not my favorite machines.
For the price they are reasonable to create a workable botfarm.

I’ve had a CTC for a while now. Overall out of the box it’s great. Nice detail. There are a few upgrades a new owner might want to print or invest in. I personally think the best investment was a new extruder gear for the steppers. Made all the difference for consistent filament feed. So far I really like it.

I have no regrets about buying mine. Great print quality, after a couple easy mods. Prints like a champ right out of the box. I recommend them to everyone who asks me. Great printer for the price

I believe the stability of the printer directly leads to its high quality prints. It costs half as much as a Rep2x and will yield the same quality.

Support and Service has been a top priority for CTC. To stand by our customers and have them come back means a lot to us.

It is with this, that has allowed CTC to produce the next “big thing”. A CTC3D 3-in-1 Laser Etcher, CNC Mill, and 3D Printer in a single machine.

Thank you to everyone who supports CTC!

Summing up earlier comments.

CTC is the Toyota Corolla.

It is great price for basic solid service, is reasonably reliable, repairs are cheap and widely avaialble.

The Amazon.com reviews are not good. 2.8/5 with a lot of negative reviews. Does anyone know why the discrepancy between the Amazon reviews and the rise of the CTC in the rankings?

CTC did not sell on Amazon directly prior to April 2015.

There was only support and service in China. Now we sell on Amazon and have support and service in USA.

Don’t forget to check out the full report here : 3D printing trend report | Hubs

This seems like a very sensible explanation. Makes sense!

Keep in mind that this particular statistic is simply talking about the amounts of printers signing up. Since they have only been signing up lately there hasn’t been that many orders and that’s why the rating might be better then it should be. Moreover, the Units of analysis are different here. This is customers rating them rather than the printer owners

Regarding my earlier question, I think I clicked on an older version of this printer on Amazon. It looks like the new version is getting very good ratings.

Iv just got a CTC replicator 2 so far it going I’m new too 3D printing an I think its been a great place to start/ lean  but would like to know about upgrading like the heat plate

That’s good to hear! We’ll see in the next Trend report- maybe they’ll be the top rated printers overall!

Is the printer difficult to operate tho?

well so far its gone well really easy the software is easy to use all round great printer but iv not print with dual feed yet just one

little late I know

but the ctc has really convinced me. It is the russian tank under the 3d printers you can totally disassemble it, reassemble it and it still works perfectly. And it s so cheap even I could afford it, I was looking at the makibox but I m glad I took the ctc after I saw the disaster that happned with their firm. Back to the printer, I think what truely makes it a topseller is the cheap reliable tec that it consists off , the easy ways of buying from amazon and ebay as well as the good engineering and the great community in different languages even in german that evolved around it(ând the flashforge etc.).Easy mods and cheap filament that you don t have to buy from some special retailer as keep the operating costs low and make it a workhorse. The quality is great for the prize and all you need for most purposes.

What gear are you using and where did you get it?

They are cheap and you can pretty much swap everything out… lol
