I am researching 3D printers to use for prototyping. I have a budget of £1500-£2000 and I would like a printer that can take a wide variety of thermoplastics and if possible accept fibre reinforcement and having looked around I have struggled to find many options. Does any advice/recommendations? (based in the UK)

I personally have a Flashforge dreamer, Form 2 and Airwolf Axiom, as well as experience with the Makerbot line of products and Spider bot. The Flashforge is my work horse, its a fantastic little machine and very affordably priced. It can print most things including fiber reinforced plastics. The build volume is pretty modest but works well for most things. If you give some specifics as to what kind of things you’re trying to print I might be able to lend some additional insight into what might work best for you…

I’m not 100% sure what we will be prototyping as I’m starting at the firm in July and my first task was to research into the options available to them. I think it will be small prototypes of components before they invest in heavy machinery. A bit vague I know, so don’t know if that helps? Thanks anyway, very helpful, the Flashforge sounds ideal!

I work as a product development engineer by day, we do a lot of printing to verify ergonomics and function before commiting to production injection mold tooling, we have two dreamers at the office and they are printing almost constantly
