Hi All,

I have been printing for about 3 years now and I am loving it. However the waste is starting to pile up. I have been holding onto it for quite some time now hoping something would come along that would make recycling cheap and easy. I am putting this out there to see if anyone would be interested in going in on a recycling solution where makers in the area could send or deliver their waste and i would recycle it into new filament that could be bought for under $10 and if you sent filament you would get a discount. I would start with PLA as that is what I am most used to and add filaments as time progresses. If you are interested however you would have to make sure that plastics that are sent to me are seperated based on the kind like PLA or ABS as if there is ABS in the PLA it could mess up someones printer.

What area? You need to be specific.

I recommend reaching out to NovaLabs in Northern Virginia (Reston/Dulles area), they have an active 3D printing community and I’m sure they’d love to start a filament recycling program. I know that one member already has a filament extruder set up.

Thanks for reaching out I’m in the Bethesda Maryland area. I’ll reach out to them and see what they say.

https://www.filabot.com/blogs/news/filabot-recycling-service?comment=296… Filabot Recycling Service It’s been a busy Monday at Filabot. That’s a good thing! Today we’re announcing a beta testing phase for our new Filabot Recycling Service. It’s another avenue for recycling prints for as many makers as possible. We’ve been crossing off check-list items, editing and developing the launch of this new service. The idea is simple: you’ve got failed prints, we’ve got industrial recycling capabilities, you send in your prints, we recycle them! Our Filabot Recycling Service Beta Testing Phase will completely and totally take PLA prints and turn them into filament so you don’t have to. It’s new, it’s innovative, it might not be as popular as we think, but we’re all about experimentation. This service will allow anyone with a 3D printer to recycle their failed prints without having to invest in our full recycling setup. In this first phase, we’ll be establishing relationships with customers who are interested in recycling their prints from low-volume to high-volume to anything in between. We’re interested in getting a wide variety of users from all over to create the best possible recycling system. The gist is: we’re doing something new. And we want you to be a part of it. So click here for our Google Form if you’re interested in this new opportunity! Without trying to sound like a Sith Lord: join us. Best, The Filabot Team

Hi Emma,

Thanks for reaching out. I am in the D.C area. The one problem I am plagued with is making sure that the scalp we receive is sorted between PLA and ABS. Is your stuff sortred?

I’d love to do this the link does not seem to work though. Do you have an active link?
