I hate leaving a first message which is negative and critical although I hope it will not be considered a flame. I have a DaVinci Junior 1.0 and it is my first 3D printer and I love using it. It is a wonderful machine. That said, I cannot imaging buying another printer from XYZ because of their customer support. I bought (from them and from Amazon) six different colors of filament. As you know changing a new filament involves actually changing the circuit board and transferring the axle to the new filament roll. Six weeks ago I wrote to their customer support asking if I could please buy a few additional axles to make it easier for me to swap filaments. This is after I registered with my serial number on their site for the warranty. Their first thing was to demand a receipt from me to show I had really purchased their printer. That seemed very strange as what the heck would I want axles for otherwise? Anyway, I could not find my receipt. They refused to help. Then I went to Barnes and Noble and the manager there was incredibly helpful and went through all their computer database to find my receipt and print me a copy of that. I sent it as a scanned pdf file and repeated my request. After a couple weeks they replied that they would be willing to sell me the axles IF I purchased said axles with 100 feet of filament on each one. I decided that was, if not reasonable, then at least doable. I wrote back to them and asked if I could at least choose the color of the filaments and how much it would cost. They told me it would take another week to talk to their technical people. After two weeks I contacted them again and politely asked if they had a price yet and how to proceed. That was a week ago and they have not answered. I don’t know what to do. I was hoping maybe to find a 3D template for such axles but no such luck. I doubt these can be sourced otherwise and XYZ seems incredibly loathe to sell them. I was thinking of upgrading this year to a DaVinci 2 or even the Nobel. But at this point I am even just worried about ever getting support on the Jr. Is this just me? Have other people had any luck with XYZ support? Has anyone even bought axles from them? This is just sooooooo strange.

This process may take your printer out of commission for awhile, but if you ship me the axle, I can design an identical model for you so that you can print as many as you’d like.

I did think of using one of the Hub suppliers and will be happy to work with you if I decide to do that. Unfortunately when you say sending you my one hub could take my printer out of commission for awhile, it occurs to m that if the mails should lose my axle, or if anything should happen to that axle… Well, given how I am unable to buy an axle from XYZ, it could well take my printer down forever.

Your account says that you follow the New York tag. If you are located in Manhattan or Brooklyn, we can probably meet up and discuss how I can help you with this!

Practicalprintr: awesome guy!

Just wanted to thank the help offers. Today on Thingiverse I found a model for an axle hub for the DaVinci Jr! A few problems with the design but a little sandpaper and I now have some usable hubs.
