Hey guys,
I am very new to 3D printing and recently working on 3D printing for my study. I have been working on it since past 3 months and recently I am facing problem with my printing since last week which was not present before as I have printed the same thing earlier. I am not getting consistent print. That means in some area of my print my material is not extruding at all and for some part it is flowing properly. Furthermore the problem occurs in the same area every time I print. I’ve calibrated my bed and it is quite in order. However once I push the filament during printing it works normally. So I thought it would be partial clogging of nozzle. Hence I’ve tried it to remove with hot and cold method as well as with the use of needle when nozzle is hot but it didn’t solved the problem. As when I extrude it manually with pronterface, the flow comes out perfectly; hence clogging might not be the problem. Please help me regarding this.
I am using soft PLA with 1.75 mm diameter. It should be noted that using other filament (all other are of 3mm) doesn’t cause the problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
You say 3mm filament works fine, but 1.75mm doesn’t? Unless you swap out the extruder and hot end, I don’t believe you can mix and match filaments of different diameters.
Andrew is correct. It’s not appropriate to put 1.75 in 3mm, but I am curious if the model has intersecting lines can you upload the model so I can check it?
ohhhh, Is it so? You might be certainly right but belive me previously I’ve done with the same filament and extruder and the printing was good. However, I am printing an object with just 0.5 mm to 2 mm in height. (just for the additional info.)
I’ve attached the stl data of the print.
yliane_streifen_1mm_x_05mm.stl (667 KB)
That’s good that you’ve been able to print 3mm and 1.75mm filament with the same extruder and hot end. But… in that case, what is the problem you are reporting? I was under the (obviously mistaken) impression that you were having problems with 1.75mm after printing with fine with 3mm.
Actually, I am the culprit to that confusion. I have sentenced it in very confusing way. Actually a month before I was able to print with the same filament and due to some requirement I need to print it again and this time it was able to print but in some region there wasn’t any extrusion while in other region flow was normal.
Thats odd, I dont see any issues with the model. However I am curious if you have recalibrated your machine before printing and also did you try cleaning teeth of the extruder?
No. I don’t know, what to do for that? Can you please tell me how to do it? Thanks in advance
