Does anyone on here know of a solid resource for rules/regs on getting printer equipment through customs in the UAE? How have people done it? Is it very difficult?

Hey @William_Altman, just a heads up that I’ve added geographical tags to your post, so people in those communities get directly alerted of your post. Hope this helps!

I imported my printer (Solidoodle Press), parts (including an E3Dv6 extruder) and all my filament with no issues at all. Took me a few minutes to try to explain to the customs officials what exactly the filament was (mainly because of language issues), but there is no problem at all with importing. I usually use my Shop and Ship account for my filament. Again, with no problems.

No issues here either. Printer came in direct from FlashForge in China and have received filament from the US as well (Taulman). The shipping was handled by both sellers in these cases, but typically I use my shop and ship account. Shop and ship is much more reliable than emirates post. I ordered all metal hot ends for my FF which shipped by USPS through Emirates post. Never received them. Re-ordered using my shop and ship account and it arrived in 5 days after it shipped from the seller.

It’s probably more cost effective to see what printers are locally sold. There’s makerbot, ultimaker, cube, xyz etc.

I’m guessing there shouldn’t be a custom issue, you can call them and ask.
