Hi Everyone,

It’s been a while since we had a meetup, so why don’t we plan one soon?

What would everyone like to see at a meetup? Typically we invite everyone for snacks and to mingle and chat and play with a 3D Printer. We could also incorporate some 3d scanning too, using photogrammetry and other methods. Would anybody be interested in bringing along their own 3d printer to play with as well? The more printers, the merrier.

I’m thinking sometime within the next month or so we should all get together. Let me know if you have any ideas or feedback for what you’d like in a meetup.

Hey Nathan, I’d be more than happy to talk about what we’re working on over at Pinshape for all the people in and around Vancouver that don’t know us yet. We’ll also have an easy, relevant contest for free filament that will end at the end of October, that people would probably be interested in.

Hey Nick, sounds good. I love contests. Tonight I thought about the idea of having a 3d printed costume party. What is your contest about? Maybe we could also do a small prize for best 3d-printed costume or accessory at the meetup?

It sounds like 3d604 (3d604.org) is also starting to gear up for some autumnal meet ups- it’d be great if you could combine forces and reach more people. That and Murphy dictates that if two groups organize something, it’ll end up being at the same time

The Richmond Public Library is also doing some community outreach and organizing some 3d printing and design centric meet ups - I think about 20 people came to the first one, some from as far away as Burnaby. The main branch is a short walk from SkyTrain, so getting there is easy. I can put you in touch with the organizers.

Hi Julian,

Thanks for the tip about the 3d604 meetup. I’ll see if they’d like to combine efforts.

Also, I was going to come to the Richmond library last

time, but I got busy with printing. I would definitely like to be in contact with the library folks.

Thanks,

Nathan

Hi Nathan- can’t figure out how to find your direct email through 3D hubs. If you can figure out how to get it to me, I’ll pass it on to the staff at the RPL.

Cheers,

Julian

My email is njbuxton@gmail.com.

Hey Nathan, we’ve partnered with MadeSolid to give away 200 rolls of filament. Details can be found here, but it’s a really easy contest to enter with multiple ways to win. Madesolid Filament Giveaway | Pinshape

Thanks! I’ll pass it on to the tech librarians.
