A customer of ours has an I3 plus and wants to update the firmware to fix some of the bugs but it does not want to update. Has anyone out there had any issues with the process? any advise would help thanks.
Talked to a rep from wanhao, they have a new firmware update coming out “before August 18th.” They have a good step by step guide on their website. Can you give anymore detail? I know you have to update the screen separate from the printer board. Is it throwing errors? anymore detail will be helpful in troubleshooting

What operating system are they using? I have an i3 Plus and use Mac OS X but can’t get the printer to be recognized. Knowing the OS might help with getting an answer.
I think they are using a different usb to serial chip and may need a driver. I think i had to install one for another project board I had using the same chip. I think it is a CH340 chip. CH34x_Install.zip (111Kb) (OSX)
I wish they would just release their source code. I have a few things I would like to fix myself. Feel free to pressure them via email on releasing the I3 Plus firmware source like they have done for a few of the other printers.

Thank you for that info! I’ve been looking everywhere for a solution and installing CH34x pkg worked for me! Now Repetier and Cura can connect to the i3 Plus! Now I was able to install firmware v2.1.8 Hopefully it’s something as simple as installing CH34x for the person who was asking the question for their customer.

Thanks,
now is after August 18, but I can´t find any URL where one can download the firmware update.
Many thanks in advance
Yep, still waiting. I would really like to get my hands on the source to port their LCD changes to the Repetier firmware instead of Marlin. Everyone please email them and ask them to release it.
