Does anyone have any idea how many build orders are being place on 3D Hubs Perth each week?

Iv been signed up for a few weeks ago and iv received Zero orders. I will continue adding pictures of my prints hoping to “attract” a customer sometime this year.

Is it because people only want prints from so called “premium printers” despite a premium printer not guaranteeing a premium print?

I’ve only had a couple of orders so far, both from the same person and a part of the same project they were working on. Hopefully people will become more aware of what’s available soon, and things will pick up a little bit.

Hey @sankofa, good thinking with pimping up your Hub page! It’s a great way to show potential customers your skills, but also the filaments you have in stock and what you (they) can do with them.

Another thing that should work is promotion via word of mouth, both face-to-face and through social media. Sharing cool or functional prints/ projects with family and friends can only help spread the word about local 3D printing in Perth.

Same goes for @Ashley_R’s post on his experience on printing with 3D Hubs, and @maesconsulting in particular - what an amazing way to reassure potential customers that the service is awesome

In terms of exposure, posting on Talk is another way to leverage your work. Some of the Maker Tales we had here like The Scale Bicycle and The Lightsaber even turned out in the 3D printing media

… just to name few ways you can create awareness for your Hub. Hope it helps!

Hi,

I believe we have the biggest hub in Perth E-jet 3d printing total of about 30 orders and we have been around since December last year

wr run a Ultimaker 2 and flashforge creator pro. I could really offer any tips other than heaps of pics and low prices along with good variety of colours/materials. I have a second hub which I started called Ultimade. But haven’t got anything from that since I started 3 weeks ago. Also at the moment it’s not a very busy time. It’s starting to sleep down. Give it a couple months and let the market get better and see what happens

Hi

I’ll start by saying that I do not live near Perth.

I’ve been using 3D printing services for 2 years now.

I do not own a 3D printer, but have had a number of successful 3D printing projects.

The most major problem with 3D printing is:

Before someone has something 3D printed, a drawing needs to be created.

Myself, I’m working on my drawing skills.

When I have a drawing that is worthy of printing, I contact someone with a printer that I’m familiar with,

in a location close to me. and have the project printed.

So far, I’m very pleased with the end result.

Now for my opinion about getting people to order parts from you:

I would stop by local high schools and higher education schools.

Talk to the teachers and or professors to see if they have 3D printers in their schools.

If not, Offer your services.

The education of the children and young adults is the key to get places like 3D hubs and MakeXYZ making LOTS of

parts.

Once the young Maker wanabees become aware of what 3D printing has to offer, all the 3d printers in the world will

not be able to keep up.

That’s just my 2 cents worth.

I hope it helps you in some manner.

Garyg
