Hello, I have a CR-10 and I was wondering if there was any way to get more accuracy on the first few layers of the print. I have noticed that I lose up to .6mm of detail on the bottom of the print which for small parts can mean entire missing features. When printing a 10mm x 10mm x10cube, the x and y are very close to 10mm while the z is 9.2-9.4mm on average. I have tried leveling the bed, however I am getting the perfect amount of stick on the stock heated bed and there does not seem to be much ‘squish’ so im afraid if I lower it any more my prints wont stick.

Is it dual Z motor?

Yes. and it appears that after more testing I was able to get a perfect print by using a raft to lift the print above the first few squished layers.

I have S5 and it was a pain to get it right at the beginning but now it’s so precise that I print directly on glass without raft.
The problem is that the right side of the printer doesn’t have a end stop for the Z axis motor, when they are disabled, the gantry starts to go down a bit on the right, so I made an adjustable stop for it on the frame. In cura my first layer is set to 0.3mm, so if I don’t change the first layer thickness I won’t need to re-level the bed but can easily change the layer height of the model. I recommend you to put the first layer not less than 0.2mm and then inspect the edges (shells) and see if they are squished or not at any point, once you get a verygood first layer then the rest of the model should be accurate. Otherwise you are having stepping issues on the Z axis.
