My printer seems to have a problem with homing. It really tries hard to home in X and Y-axis. Makes terrible noises. Makes me think that this can’t be normal and good for the belts or motors.

Look at the limit switches to see if they are working.

oki, I’ve checked the two endstops I have. One wasn’t working, had it in the wrong port on the ramps. Now its working.

But the Y-axis has only a Max endstop, not a min endstop. So it still makes a racket when homing.

Is there a way to fix that?

What firmware and host are you using?

Marlin and simplify3d

See this link: Section on configuring homing direction: SolidUtopia.com is for sale | HugeDomains

Assuming your endstops are working but the Y axis is homing in the wrong direction, that may help you.

If you are not comfortable editing the arduino firmware, or don’t have the original source code for your marlin configuration, simply move the enstop from 1 end of the Y carriage to other, and plug the endstop in the Y-MIN endstop port on the Ramps board.
