Hey hubs! I have been printing for a few months now on a Hictop Prusa i3. They included a printed direct drive extruder that has been working very well. However, I recently purchased a E3D chinese clone in hope of testing out a different hotend to see if I can increase the quality of my prints, or even experiment with a Bowden setup. I have found it a bit daunting to make the jump to Bowden, or even to find a printable E3D Mount that is direct drive. I prefer to stick with direct, such as this mount: Mk8 Spring loaded Drive Block Replicator 1 / Duplicator 4 / FlashForge / CTC by thruit00 - Thingiverse However, I would also like to give Bowden a go. So, I need some help finding both a E3D Mount that I can use with another extruder, and a bowden setup. Both of these need to be printable, the hardware I can source myself.
Thanks!

Let me know if they work well, I might pull some of my printers offline and make the same change.
Will do. The change wont happen immediately, i’m getting good results out of my direct currently, but soon my extruder may give out. I am interested in Bowden just because I study physics, so it would be obvious that some of the defects and imperfections would have to be because of the weight of direct, but who knows. The opinions on Bowden are so mixed its hard to tell.

3d printer conversations regarding temperatures, materials and bowden vs non bowden are generally exempt from phisics. Which is unfortunate. I agree that the lower the moving mass the better the print quality and consistency.
Agreed, it is unfortunate. I will get back to you on the results of this Bowden mount. I have a Chinese E3D clone, so i’m not really sure if the quality will be stunning, but it looks to be of decent quality. If the bowden works out i’ll probably pick up a legit E3D and give that a go.

3D cam? They are decent. I tend to jam them a bit more due to the small design changes. Overall they seem to work though. Good luck.
My e3d clone has been working flawlessly for a while now. I’m also interested to see how your e3d Bowden setup goes.
