I ham trying to make a model from a picture to make a mold to pour candys. I am using a older mac and 123d lags really bad and my skills with other apps are nill. I tried tinkercad and it was a disaster. If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.

Can you post the picture?

Here it is.

Hey Chris,

I’d suggest contacting a local Hub who could create the model for you! A decent amount of Hubs here have all kinds of design experience and your model doesn’t seem like it will be that complex, so someone here should be able to get you a good model fairly quickly. You’ll want to find someone who’s experienced with mesh modeling programs, like Maya or Z-brush, to make this model.

To find a Hub who could help you out, click the button on the top menu that says “3D Print”. Update your location (if Hubs doesn’t by default locate you), then click the button labeled “More Filters” under the section labeled Choose a material to print in. In the expanded filter section, under the section labeled Hub Services, toggle the button for “Can help with 3D Modeling”. This will filter all the Hubs by you out so that only the ones that can model for you will be displayed.

From the list of Hubs generated, click on a few that interest you and navigate to their individual profiles. You do this by clicking on the Hub name, and in the pop-up window that appears, click the button that says “View Hub” under the Hub description (I attached a screenshot below of the button’s location because it’s really small). Once on the Hub’s profile, click on the button in the right corner of their banner image that says “Contact this Hub”. This will bring up an inquiry form where you can ask the Hub about the model work they can provide for you.

Hi,

Please don’t try to re-invent “the wheel”.

Use available designs on the internet. Modify them as you wish and use it. You can use an octopus model for your candle mold. Import the octopus in 123D Sculpt or MeshMixer and tweak it.

greetings,
