After the makerbot completes one level the next level is closer to the front of the makerbot. it appears to be getting worse. I am wondering what the issue is and how I can fix it.

OK… make sure that you are running th latest version of the desktop which i beleive is 3.8… then after you insure that… make sure that the firmware is the newest on your machine.

this happen with a particular model ora with every kind of file ? or maybe is an hardware problem with a belt.

It sounds mechanical or electrical

1. does it make any strange sounds like movement is starting and stopping? i.e., shuttering? If so, then your cable for the x axis that goes to the motor on the end of the gantry may have an intermittent open. This happens on pre 5th gen machines.

2. the other thing I would check is your pulleys, one or more may be slipping when it changes direction. Are the belts tight, if not adjust the motor position on the loose belt. Makerbot has instructions for that. Are the pulleys tight, check the set screw on the toothed pulleys.

Hope this helps.

I don’t think it is a slicer issue but could be wrong.

Hi, with time it will be worse. Probably it is time to replace it with Zortrax M200. We dumped our Maker Bots in February due to constant problems and reliability problems.

Already mentioned above by another user, but the fact that it is getting worse also suggest the XY belts are continuing to stretch. Here is the Replicator 2 belt tightening process:

https://www.makerbot.com/support/new/05\_Replicator\_2/Knowledge\_Base/How\_to\_Tighten\_the\_X\_and\_Y-Axis\_Belts

In addition to tightening the belts, make sure all of the pulleys are tight on their motors. If the set screw is loose, the pulley may slip a little and not turn with the motor.

Thank you all for your help an suggestions. I tried tightening the belts, and that seemed to work for smaller builds like the space monkey and space dog that are defaults with the Makerbot Replicator 2, but the bigger Gorgon default built still ends up slanting towards the front. Is there anything else I could try? I have looked at most of the video tutorials on the Makerbot website, but I am worried about doing more harm than good because I am a teacher and kind of flying by the seat of my pants here.

put the extruder on home position using the menu. with a marker make a sign on the belts and one on the frame of the printer as reference ( or on the pulley) start a new print and if there is an error stop the print and check again if the sign are still aligned. if the marks are ok check the screw that lock the pulley. if is still not working check the cable on x axis motor if there are a lot of hours on this printer could be damaged.

This is a print troubleshooter for the ultimaker but it may give you some ideas for the Makerbot.

Where are you located, perhaps someone local can come help you.

When moving to the next level it makes a strange noise? May be the x axis cable is damaged. You notice it with large print s because the extruder gets closer to the right (where the stepper motor is located) and the cable bents more that when you print in the center of the build plate.

I had the same problem and Makerbot support sent me a replacement cable that fixed the problem.
