Hi!
I’m very new to 3D printing and just designed my first “Thing”! (Basic Dreidel by nlkushner - Thingiverse)
I’m trying to get it printed but cannot figure out how to angle the object for print.
I’d like to have the least amount touching the print bed as possible.
I tried to print it on it’s tip (It’s a top/dreidel) but the print failed, the tip couldnt support the inter model. I then printed it on its side, but the letter on that side of the dreidel was messed up by the initial layers.
Is there any way I can print this standing up with supports?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey, there could you post another link? This one seems to be broken unfortunately

Maddie,
Thanks for the response!
I just fixed that issue - the link should work now.
Thanks,

Hmm, I think the best orientation would be actually upside down, so that the only part touching the build plate is the little part that you spin between your fingers. This will require a lot of support though, unfortunately.
Another option would be to remove the “dreidel” text from the top, create a hole for the pin to go into, and then print them separately. In this way, the pin will be printed vertically and you can glue it in later, and the top of the dreidel will print flat on the bed with no support.
(side note: I think cutting the text into the body of the dreidel instead of sticking out might produce a slightly cleaner finish)
I hope this makes sense! If not, I’d be happy to help you with it if you can post a link to the Tinkercad file
