I was quoted $3500 on sculpteo for a 15cm lump of basic plastic, the cheapest quote for my model was £350. Has the industry gone insane? Is anyone actually dumb a stupid enough to pay that kind of money for a lump of shaped plastic? I can only think that there must be many middlemen suppliers in the industry each ripping off the end user until a lump of plastic costs as much as 18 carat gold. lol

Hi @Greg_Jones those figures do sound insane, but I’m pretty sure they’re not common. Are you talking about ABS or PLA printing via FDM? If so, feel free to run it through my hub just to compare prices (I’m in the UK so probably not the best Hub to actually carry out the order).

Why not upload a picture of your model, it may be there’s something about it that’s causing the high quotes.

Can I ask, are you all on crack or some other drug? You are expecting me to pay $6000 for a piece of plastic? Can I ask, do you find enough lunatics to actually spend that on a lump of plastic? Like, is anyone actually stupid enough?

I work at Shapeways, but are you trying to upload something solid? And How big is it?

If you want to I can give you advice on how to reduce the cost.

I am not customer support BTW I am just a 3d printing engineer…
