The May Trend report is out so let us see what’s new going on in the 3D World.

The Form1+ is still dominating as best reviewed printer with astonishing 4.82 average review rating, followed by the Makerbot Mini and the Zortrax M200.

This is insanely good result. Do you guys feel that way as well? Was it worth investing in Form 1+?

I own a Form1+ and a Zortrax M200. I use the Zortrax 10 to 1 over the Form1+. The Zortrax prints are stronger, more aaccurate, are not a mess to post process and cost about 1/5th as much to produce. I use the Form1 when I need a very smooth surface, clear material or for parts with very small features.

We operate a Form1+ too. Its amazing how detailed it is compared to traditional deposition printers. We have started attracting art students from a local university that scan themselves and want prints. They are requiring very high resolution to see the details. The Form1+ does take more time in post-production, but I just love the results. We are doing flexible resin now too.

Nice! I’d love to see some examples of flexible resin prints. What have you tried so far?

Here is one we just did for another art student. His scan was not as good as others we’ve seen, but its very accurate compared to the STL file we were given. I notice when the printer is peeling each layer off, the whole model can flex a little, then bounce back. I have learned that supports are critical to a successful flexible materials print. In other words, don’t be shy with adding support structures.
