Hey guys,

Emmanuel Guilloz, the inventor of the FoldaRap, was at the launching of 3D Hubs in Paris in May. The FoldaRap is a RepRap you can fold (no surprise). It then looks like a small luggage you can carry everywhere.

Did anyone try to make one ? Or any suggestion to improve it?

Maybe @edddy, @conG, @LaurentD and @xoan could tell us more about it

Yep, some people made one by themself: http://reprap.org/wiki/FoldaRap\_Hall-of-Builds (mine is an indie build

You have all the documentation (very good documentation mainly mantained by Emmanuel) in the RepRap Wiki: FoldaRap - RepRap

Highly recommended !

First, I don’t recommend Foldarap for beginners, it’s not easy to calibrate, at least it needs to be a accomplished maker to like it.
Then, the concept is to print it in PLA and I recommend to print a lot of part in ABS instead, some PLA parts of mine have melted: extruder motor support, Y motor support and Y clamp must be in ABS.

After that, this design is cool, it’s light, easy to carry

Hi,

I don’t recommend Foldarap for beginners too, i’m one of them and there was a lot of difficulties for a newbie like me. Some documentation are missing, some tricks are not very well explain (how to make a molex connector for fans, for example…) and the foldarap is very expensive.

But, foldable !
