I have recently purchased the flashforge creator pro and have encountered issues whilst trying to print my first .stl I followed all instructions out of the manual to complete the little amount of printer build and then used the quick set up guide to finish the basic set up. i completed this without any problems.

I then completed the test print file on both of the extruders and they completed correctly, without any issue, so i am happy that my bed is levelled correctly, and that the general setting of the printer out of the box are okay.

However when trying to print a file (using both extruders - PLA on each) the print fails, before it even really gets started… Whilst heating up there is no problem, with only a little amount of filament being oozed out of the nozzles, but to be honest no more than i would expect. However once the extruders are up to temp and the printer moves to the start position, which seems to be to the left of the actual print bed, it starts to extrude heavily from both nozzles and then moves over the print bed slightly before moving to the actual start location of the object. During these movements the nozzles continue extruding and drags this excess filament with it (from both extruders). Of course this leads to the filament getting caught on the nozzles and it starts to form a big ball of filament.

I am using simplify3D and have tried adjusting the retraction amount and also the temp of the extruders, however this does not seem to make any difference to the print.

Any help would be very much appreciated - not being able to print is killing me :frowning:

Hi @centurion149 what you’re describing is (mostly) actually normal behaviour for the FF Pro (and most other FDM printers); the bit where the head moves off the bed and begins extruding, before moving onto the edge of the bed is known as “purging” and it’s deliberate to ensure the loaded filament is coming through cleanly and correctly before the print starts.

What’s not normal is for this purged filament to be dragged into the print, although it does happen. I suspect you’ve got some adhesion issues. Are you using the blue bed that comes with the FF Pro?
