I would like to understand these 2 things:

-is it possible to print half of my object with the left extruder (for example White) and the remaining part of the object with the right extruder (for example black) without dividing the object in 2 parts?

-is it possible to put the same color on both extruders and print one object with 2 extruders having as a result a faster speed?

Thanks so much to anyone who can help me.

Hey hahanfry,

First of all, the purpose of dual extuder printer is that you can create a single print with both extruded to achieve two different colours or materials.

This means that you can print half in one colour and half in another. It will basically melt second filament in such a way that it sticks to the first part that has been printed of the opposite colour.

Your second question may seem possible but it doesn’t speed things up . The two nozzles are never working at the same time. They take it it turns to print material. Each time you change nozzle the printer must align it correctly from its previous position and continue. This is a pain for those with dual extruders if they have intricate designs as the machine takes longer than it would if it just used one nozzle.

If your printing the same colour/ material, just stick to one nozzle, it’ll save you a lot more time. You can’t speed up the process by alternating between them unfortunately. Good luck with the prints.

Hope this helps
