Hi. I have had problems for som time now with my Flashforge Creator Pro 2016.

It seems lite the first layers (10+) after raft aren´t the right size!

The seems to bee to small. And if it is a Square piece the corners are getting rounded. But higher upp they print the correct size.

And in this print in the Picture i got small blobs every new layerstart until it reach the wider part.

Facts:

Printer: Flashforge Creator Pro 2016 (ca 1400m filament produced)

Program: simplify3d

Filament: 3D prima ABS+

Temp: 230

Bed: 110

Raft enabled, support enabled (only used for a smal hole)

Things I have done to find error:

Bedleveling (With dial gauge)

Printed som temp Towers. and 230 seemed to be the right temp

Printed some 20mm cubes at 230 degrees and used different speeds.

Cube 1: default 3600mm/min. Rounded corners at bottom

Cube 2: 2200mm/min. Better result, just slight rounded

Cube 3: 1800mm/min slightly better than above.

And with the cubes I didn´t get the blobs each layer?

What can be the problem?

Have printed a spool normal ABS and no problems.

Is it the material?

Thanks

Your bottom layer is shrinking more than the layers above it, as a result of shrinkage that occurs with ABS from the heat of your build plate.

I think you are printing too hot, or need to increase your cooling time. (the amount of time per layer that allows each layer to cool before the next layer is printed. It looks like you are printing on squishy previous layers. This is a guess, but supported by the fact your larger cylinders are not having the same issue.

Retractions on rounded objects are difficult. The reason you are getting them rounded objects and not seeing them on the cube is because your slicer is placing them directly on the corners of your cube, so they are kind of hidden.

You can get some good advice on blobs here Print Quality Guide | Simplify3D Software.

Its mostly about retracting the right amount, wiping, etc. Blobs on small cylinders require some fiddling to get there.
