So I’ve been printing my 3D models with 100% success thus far, until I decided to swap the filaments. I changed the Green ABS with a white ABS, and now I’m getting problems.

All my 3D models which were printing fine before now don’t print out well at all, yet the strange thing is that the test model (part of the disk files) came out perfectly.

Here is an example of what happens when I print one of my own models (which mind you was working fine before the swap):

On the first layer, the printer attempts, but leaves behind faint markings:

I come back 10 minutes later to see the state of it:

I stop the print to see what the model currently looks like:

Upon inspection, this is what the nozzle looks like:

ew.

So it appears to be definitely printing out the filament, but not the first layer, and it doesn’t seem to be sticking to the base, HOWEVER the test model came out fine but all my other models had the same weird problem.

Some things you probably want to know:

- The extruder nozzles started out completely clean and clear

- The model is being printed from the left extruder

- I’ve checked the plate leveling before and after, and it is perfect

- Heated to 230C (R/L Extruder), 110C (Platform)

- When I swapped filaments, I unloaded from the left, took out the green, and fed in the new white filament.

I have an art project which I require the printing done in 6 days, so I am a bit unsure as to what I should do. Advice at this stage would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Some colors require higher temperature to extrude properly, try printing at 240 and use purple glue stick on the bed to ensure good adhesion. This is assuming no first layer settings have changed in your slicer and that the bed is properly leveled. -Joe, Access 3D Services

Seems like an obvious case of the first layer being too far away from the build plate. Are you sure the models weren’t slightly floating above the surface in your slicer?
