I have a problem with the Anet A8 3D Printer where the hotend extruder doesn’t seem to push the filament at all but it works if I manually push it into the hotend as seen in this video:

Does anyone know why and how to fix?

I had problems with the original extruder, I noticed if I didn’t manually push filament through until I had a nice bit of melt in the extruder then yank it quick, it would get stuck and break off In the throat tube…
try to push filament though by hand, if you can, its likely you don’t have enough tension on the idler to push the filament against the gear. If you CANT push through manually, you have a clog. Tear her apart, torch the tube lightly, and clear the plastic that’s left in there, try again. This was a big problem for me until I swapped out to an e3d
It could be, that the filament bearing (next to the gear) is too loose, so that there is not enoigh pressure on the gear to push it in the nozzle. And: Look if the gear itself is fixed properly. Regards Sebastian
did you find out what was wrong?

There is a screw at the top of the extruder that loosens or tightens the filament between the gears. The gears force the filament through the extruder. It sounds like yours is too loose. Try tightening it and see if that makes a difference.
