As mentioned in The Hub Weekly yesterday, you can now add 3D scanning and 3D modeling services to your Hub. The feature will help customers differentiate between Hubs who can and those who can’t offer these additional services. Just a heads up though that the cost for these services still needs to be added manually for each order on the order page.

In order to add them to your Hub, simply go to your Hub dashboard and tick the respective boxes, as seen in the image below.

At the same time it’s important to note that customers can now find you for design or 3D scanning work as well. Basically all they need to do is click the Advance Options button on the Online 3D Printing Service | Instant 3D Printing Quotes | Hubs page, as you can see here:

Can’t wait to see how this much anticipated feature is working for you!

Drop a comment below to see how you guys like it.

Do you consider expanding this feature for stuff like reworking 3d prints, especially for polishing of metal prints, acetone smoothing, sanding or reworking WoodFill prints with varnish, also spray painting or molding are tasks that customers might want beside drilling, cutting or the assembly of multiple prints. Additionally some people also own lasercutters or engraving machines, which might be worth to be listed with this new feature.

Hey Marius, these are all fair points, thanks for laying them out. We’ll definitely take them into account, but as of now there are no short term plans for these. We’ll keep you guys updated once we release new updates.

But how do you find the current updates? Are they useful in any way for you?

They are, indeed. I do now offer CAD modeling, but I’ll have to see, how that changes the type of customers, that visit my hub. Cheers, Marius Breuer

What about adding Lazer cutting, Turning, Milling also as additional services?

Hey Steven, there are indeed many other services we took into account, but at the moment we want to focus on those closely connected to 3D printing. We’ll keep you guys updated with any other updates in the future. Cheers

It could be an interesting future for 3dHubs, when the services expand to CNC milling machines and similar, then there’s nothing, you can’t get made. As I have some projects, like printer upgrades, that need precise metal parts, it would be great to have a platform for such services, that’s equivalent to 3dHubs in the meaning of pricing etc. Given those services would be added in the future, 3dHubs could be the go-to website for people, that want anything from 3d modeling to printing prototypes, CNC milling tools and finally large quantity production, an interesting thought. All fair points, Marius, we’ll keep them in mind for a later date. And apologies for the late reply, I was away for a few days. Good to be back though
