The bulk discount feature once you grasp idea that it’s X% of the amount over $Y is a usable system. I like to provide tiered discounts in the form of: 10% @ $100 20% @ $200 Etc. It allows for customers to up their order for bigger discounts.

Thanks for the request. Providing you this flexibility would certainly help adding another level of customer satisfaction. Do you think this would happen a lot that the customers would up their orders to that level because of knowledge that the discount will be applied?

McDonalds (as well as others) have been doing it for years. It’s only 12 cents or some ridiculous number to giant size your order. The idea is fairly well known and studied and I don’t have any references off the top of my head. People who are on the fence about spending more or who are simply placing a large dollar value order (we’re calling $100+ large dollar value) will tend to spend more if that spending is rewarded with discounts or freebies. Many shoppers will increase spending by 5-10% if the extra payment includes a big benefit (like twice the fries and a gallon of carbonated sugar water).
